Good knitting patterns are out there for free. YarnFinds helps you find them.
Hi, I’m Ali. I started YarnFinds to gather the best free knitting patterns from independent designers in one calm, easy place. Every roundup points you straight to the designer’s own page, so you get the full pattern from the person who wrote it.
I keep things simple and friendly. You can be holding needles for the first time or casting on your fortieth sweater. Either way, I want you to leave with a project you are excited to start.
What You’ll Find Here
- Pattern roundups. Collections of free knitting patterns grouped by project, like hats, blankets or holiday gifts. Each entry names the designer and links to their original page.
- Beginner guides. Plain explanations of stitches, needle sizes, yarn weights and pattern abbreviations, so the roundups make sense even if you are new.
- Seasonal ideas. Gift and holiday collections posted early enough to finish in time.
I do not publish patterns as my own. The patterns in my roundups belong to their designers, and the full instructions stay on their sites.
How I Put Each Roundup Together
- I open every pattern page myself before it goes into a post.
- I check that the pattern is free on that page and complete, not a paid download or a limited-time offer.
- I check that it really fits the post. A post about hats only lists hats.
- I write down what the page actually says: yarn weight, needle size, sizes, skill level and any caveats.
- I credit the designer by name and link to their page.
For standards like yarn weights and needle sizes, I use the Craft Yarn Council guidelines as my reference.
If you spot a mistake, a broken link or a pattern that is no longer free, please tell me. I check it and update the post.
My Promise
- Free to read. Every roundup and guide on YarnFinds is free.
- Honest about money. If I ever use affiliate links or ads, I say so clearly. You can read my Affiliate Disclosure for details.
- Respectful of designers. I never copy a designer’s full pattern onto this site. I link to it so the designer gets the visit.
